ok so my 7" scomb is my pride and joy and i noticed lately he hasnt been eating or swiming aroundjust siting in a corner, i removed 4 fish from his tank that were picking on him and i thought that would help. low and behold i see this clear substance on his eye and then notice he had ich, ive treated him for ich before in his grow out 55g tank but now hes in a 140g, do you guys think i could stick in a 15g with only a filter no heater with the same water so i wouldnt use as much medicine. i also been droping the temp down its currently at 73 so he wont spead it around. as to the clear stuff on his eye what is it?, any ideas. thanks:confused:

Dropping the temp is the opposite of what you should be doing. All that will do is slow down the reproduction cycle for them...heat to 85ish and salt usually cures it.

Why would you give him no heater????

What im saying is dropping the temp that low will make the life cycle of them much longer, meaning longer time to kill them since they can only die during one phase of their life..and longer time with sick fish.

Go to the disease section, youll get the answers in 2 seconds from the stickies. Just read

Payara usually get a cloudy eye if the eye sustained trama to it. Abrasion, hitting objects or other fish. I set my regular temp at 82-83. As Irishfan suggested, you should increase to 85 and salt if it is sick.
