Scomb question

How aggressive are they...can they be housed with indo dats? Do they need to be in a species exclusive tank? How fast do they grow?

They are not really aggressive as far as going out of their way to attack tankmates. They are predatory however and will eat small fish. I dont think you have to keep them in a species tank. You can probably keep an indo dat with them because both of these fish dont grow very fast. Growth is actually pretty slow for scombs IME. Hope this helps

There shouldnt be any aggression between the two but the scombs are way more skittish then the dats. Just make sure the scombs are getting enough to eat cause the dats might beat them to it. Hope this helps!

is it true that they don't live long? what is the average lifespan of H. scomberoides?

It is true that scombs usually dont make it past the 12" mark in the aquarium....still hasnt been proven why.

i lost mine at about 8 inches. after i got alot of tankmates they stoped eating. they like minimal tankmates

Save your money and get an armatus They are expensive but well worth it IME.
