I have a question on scombs. Are yours very skittish?? Are they active and do they eat during the day??

scombs get bolder with size.

about the sudden death thing, let's say once they are approx. 7-8" long, they are powerful enough in a full throttle dash to kill themselves if crash into glass/rock/branch. that's my theory anyways, it's what happened to my tats, many of them.

if you do get the scomb, give it a bit of cover, might keep it from being skiddish.

Like driftwood and plants??

yes, something upright rather than laying length wise on the bottom floor. give 360 degrees of space 'round it so the fish can circle.
- can lean a piece of drift wood against the corner of the tank for example
- or some rocks with square bottoms can stand upright.

plants are nice too but hard to take care of if dont got the lights for it.

I have a log that sits straight up about a foot and they love it. they also sit by the corners of the tank, by the heater and by these rocks I have stacked high. They do not swim around much more of a lurker.

Mine are more just chill, they will not swim away when I do waterchanges, I almost have to hit/bat them away to get them to move. Mine ate right out of the bag with no problem.
