My LFS ordered the exo's a few weeks ago- I expressed interest, but didn't have a tank. ( and they were 8.99 each) Over the course of the weeks they were in the petstore, they ate multiple rams, catfish, and whatever else was put in there with them.
I recently stopped by there, and had happened to pick up a 30g tank which as not set up yet, but getting there, and the manager begged me to take the exo's-- well, 10 fish were sold to me for $.99 each!!!! Score!

They are very happy in the 30, despite that fact it wasn't even set up before I got them home- (I 'quick' cycled it with gravel and water from other tanks) and I added a pictus cat who seems to be doing fine. I have yet to get a decent light for it, but once I do, I'll get some live plants for the tank.

I like them alot.:woot:

Bargain!
i wouldn't bother with tankmates - they are too naughty to be trusted. Besides, Bucktooths are really active so they'll keep you entertained with their zany antics!

nice catch. they sound very interesting. it shouldnt be a problem keeping all ten in a 30g? thatd look cool.

I've had no problems keeping them in a 30 gal. tank. easily some of the most entertaining fish I have ever owned. they are awesome pets. they do get to 6" though. I have 9 of them. You and I will have to wait and see if a 30 gal. tank is big enough. so far so good though. nice buy.

Hey does your exo tear up fishes, Mines don't seem to bother guppys. I got them to eat crikets... which is fun to watch

mine dont really bother any tank mates. i have a gara ping ping that i threw in there because my pike cichlid tried to eat him. he healed all of his fins back and is thriving. my 2 tiger loages seem to be more aggressive than them, but this may all change in time.
