Scored a cool poly or lungfish cave

I went fishing in the wee hours of the morning. I didn't catch anything worthwhile. Just some black shad, small sunfish, and buffalo (fed all to the matamatas).
However, I found this cool AST carapace with the plastron still attached. Once I peel the rest of the scute material away, I'll clean up the body cavity then, saturate the porous bony material with acetone-thinned epoxy to seal it up good and waterproof. Should make an awesome looking cave.

Geez.....keep forgettin that AST live down in Mississippi...i'm gonna have to be more careful about wadin in ponds, lakes, and rivers. Oh man i can't wait!

When you get down there Aqua...you, oddball, and I will all hook up and go herpin!! Magan was just tellin me that yesterday she saw some AST in Louisianna....already out....awesome! Can't wait to see all the herps!

ASTs are nothing. At the plant where I work, there are longnose gars in the canals and the occassional gator and gator gar in the entry ponds out front. The downside is the company has told me to stop trying to catch the gators (for insurance purposes). They've also ended all fishing on company property.
