I picked up two free 55G tanks just up the road and it's Friday - Life is good. :headbang2

My neighbor is a sort of junk dealer and so people are always giving him free stuff. One of the local Christmas Tree farmers stopped by and told him that he had a couple "big" fish tanks with a free-sign on them in front of his house. When I got this information I was in my car in less than thirty seconds. :D

The cool part is that it was just a mile or so up the road. The tanks are dirty (one had chicken feathers in it) but the silicone actually doesn't look bad. Once I get them cleaned up I am going to give them a test fill in the driveway, and see. The stand is a plywood DIY job. Nothing fancy, but it stacks both tanks.

I am still trying to decide whether to hang onto the tanks or clean and reseal, then sell or trade them.

Reseal, reseal, reseal Dan!!! Serious even if the silicone holds OK, it's only a matter of time with tanks that have been exposed to the weather and sit dry. Trust me :( sweet find though man!

Always nice to find free tanks...specially when your a fish addict. I found one about 5 years ago on bulk trash day in my former town. Someone had used it for a sump but for some reason was throwing it away. It was perfectly fine. I just scraped the silicon off the sides and had a nice make shift turtle tank. Grats on the find.

I will! I'm enjoying fixing them up, whether I keep them or not.

Yeah, when you're really into fish it is hard to imagine throwing out a perfectly good tank. :screwy:
