Got a beautiful pair of Vieja gullatums yesterday before work. The male is 8in and the female is about 5in. I had to work a 16 hour shift, so I didn't really get a chance to observe them until around dawn today. They are already swimming and hanging out together, but as it got brighter out my Petenia splendida began really attacking the male. I put the snook in a holding tank for now and plan on rearranging the tank when I wake up. the pic is of the male, but both have colored up considerably since taking them home. (Pic from 50 Fathoms before they were bagged up) I'm thinking of letting the pair run my 125 and hopefully get a spawn.

Nice pickups. Very underrated member of the Paratheraps genus.
My little guys have some growing to do but show great potential.

When I woke up for the Saints game (WHO DAT), the male and my baby dorado were really going at it for a while. I've never seen the dorado act like that; he's been kept with a nice sized male festae in the past and the snook, but has never shown any aggression. They seem to have calmed down now. I think they were just testing each other for dominance. I might trade in my 10in snook for some 4in to raise with my Cichla kelberi and kraussi in another tank.

They have these for £4 each @ 3.5" in my lfs but they look nicer in real life than the pics here, the ones in my lfs are very blue with red spotting labelled as 'Gold Cheek Vieja'

I really like them but don't have a tank big enough as a male can hit 16-18"

I've never seen one that big.
