Sharp rocks can scratch glass. The misuse of razor scraping algae can also add scratches.

Whoops thank you for answering but I asked the question wrong aha. I meant can you get scratches out of a tank. Because my 60 has some in it and I would really like to get them out.

On acrylic i know you can fix it yourself... but on Glass, i think your pretty much stuck with it, unless you can find a professional to buff out the scratch for you, but not sure if that would weaken the tank?

Can't get a scratch out of glass. Not easy as acrylic at least. Unless were talking about show tanks I don't care if it has a lot of scratches.

they would have to sand the glass down so it would weaken the tank depending how deep the scratch is.

lets say your tank is 12mm glass and your scratch is 4mm in the glass once buffed your glass in this area would be 8mm. as they have to sand to the scratch of deeper to even the glass.

this will cost you a bit of money and in all honesty your better buying a new tank or turning the aquarium back to front if your back glass is not marked also.

Hello; I bought a used tank long ago that was not cleaned up, a mistake. When I got it home and clean there were scratches on all inner surfaces of the glass. i still have the tank and use it for purposes other than a display tank.
Scratches tend to not show up as much when a tank has water in it.
How light shines on the glass also can make a difference in how scratches show up. Almost to the point of having the scratches visually dissapear in some cases. This works better on finer scratches.
