hey i was wondering if u guys could tell me wats wrong. one of my fish. only one for some reason is continuously scratching himself (gills) on everything it can. ive checked the pH and really dont know wat could else could be wrong ive also done a few water changes. any ideas?

he has ick, lower the temp and add some salt and do another waterchange

dont u mean bump up the temp? the higher the temp the harder it is for ich to live, add an airstone/bubbler to your tank because when you increase the temp there is less Oxygen in the tank. Also add aquarium salt it will clear up in about a week

It does sound like early stages of ich (or less likely, gill flukes),
2 tsp salt/gal. at 30 degrees C. or higher for 10 days should work for both. If it is ich don't be suprised to see it get worse the 1st couple of days before improving.

By bumping up the temp of the water you speed up the life cycle of ick. This allows it to have more contact with meds you add to the tank.Good luck in taking care of it.
