One of my customers against my recommendation purchased a 9" SL filefish for her 300 gallon bowfront. Anyone kept one of these monsters? What was its temperment like? How big did it eventually get? Favorite foods?

Ten minutes after introduction it ate dried seaweed and krill so I'm guessing they are pretty sturdy! Very interesting fish with it color changing skin and independent eye movement. Thanks for any info.

Scrawled files get HUGE... way too big for a 300 gallon. I've seen them two feet or more and very active at that size. Attitude depends on animal. Smaller ones I've kept seem she, but the big ones are agressive and will eat anything they get in their mouth. They also like to pick up rocks/rockwork and move it around for you.

Scrawlies get up to 1.1m (or 3.6') and can be highly active... so unless her 300gal is a short from for 3000gal its not big enough lol. Other then that I know nothing.

Thanks for the replies all. This lady LIKES to feed her fish so its going to grow fast. 24 hours after introduction and its eating out of her hand. Cool fish I hope this doesnt end too poorly for the guy.
