I have scrubbies in my sump , i've had them for a while now , before because i've read that they are good bio media with lots of surface area. But now I'm thinking if they'll be able to handle bio load of keeping rays?

Also started using Pumice instead of ceramic rings.

I'm just thinking if it will be ok to keep on using the scrubbies? or should i change them to something else.

I use scrubbies, bio balls and sponges and filter floss for mechanical for my sump. Been fine I use 100 or so pot scrubbies submerged and bio balls as trickle and sponges between baffles and right before sump pump.

For bio media I use half ceramics and lava rock graded 1/2 3/4 inch. I don't know where you can get pumice but they say that is inside seachem...

Mcdo my internal is 6 inch x 24 x 18. I can estimate how many I fill inside this diy. But it's functional fugly

The lava rock is sold per sack at 300 pesos. It should be cheap. The pumice should about the same. I would go for lava rock.

Scrub at more expensive but have no idea for price. I use koi black matting .

I'd leave it as-is as well. IMO, the whole "Bio Media" industry is a huge money grab. Sure the pricey stuff has lots of surface area out of the box, but you can get great results with normal every day products as well. Pot scrubbers, lava rock, ordinary gravel, etc...
