For at least a month now, a small colony of scuds has been establishing itself in a small glass bowl in my mom's apartment. It receives just about no care at all aside from my mom occasionally adding a pellet to produce bacteria for them to eat. I did the first water change today with a turkey baster, 50% and replaced it with water from my 55g. The pair in there have already produced one batch of little scooters and are on their second! Just a heads up to anyone wanting to try their hand at these. Keep the pH high, the temperature stable and the food light, and they will go at it!

nice can you feed yr fish them

how do you get them do you order them from some where

My camera won't focus on such small things, but they get up to 1/2 an inch sometimes and look just like this:

I caught mine at a murky stream-puddle just outside the wastewater treatment plant. Very fertile area, for obvious reasons. After several generations and water changes I decided they were safe for feeding. The main culture is a 5g acrylic hex that also has turbo snails and tubifex in it. I just pull a few out now and then for food or tiny tanks.
