heres a few pics of my staghorn sculpin (caught him in marine, hes in full fresh now after a week long drip) been in fresh for over a week now and eating feeders like crazy. also some shots of the gar eating his monthly african clawed frog, and a pretty cool sunset donw at the beach
the pacifc staghorn sculpin ranges form alaska to baja california and is ussualy a full marine inhabitant
( the biggest ones ive seen were pushing 12 inches and were caught in the surf). they are howerever also found in californias drainage system (wich according to my hydrometer isnt quite marine but its pretty darn close) all the scientific data i reveiewed before attempting the conversion made allusuions to them "maybe" being able to survive in fresh. i cuaght this one and like 60 others out of one of californias many drainage ditches and brought 6 of them back to experiment with. 3 died on day 2 due to a drastic temperature drop at night (i was dripping them outside at my buddies house cuz i didnt have the room). the other 3 did fine and he now has 2 of them, one about twice the size of mine and the other about the same size ( the big one is eating goldfish and th smaller one guppies like mine). they seem to be thriving (knock on wood) so well see. i plan pn moving him into my 30 gallon native tank with a pickerel and some others around summer time. ill keep eberyone updated on him tho. hell. if he lives i may decide to ship some out for cost of shipping to other members who may be intrested.
