Hello,

I have a group comprising of SD's, yellow hoks and spotted dollars. One of the smaller SD's is being aggressive to the other fish in the tank, including a larger SD and as a result is not seem as much as I would like. :irked:

I accept that there will be some fighting within the group for dominance, but I hope it does not cause any problems. The targeted fish is larger and the instigator also gets chased sometimes.

I will re-arrange the tank decor to see if this help and reduce the plastic plants, make sure the have large leaves to provide more cover.

ive never heard of them showing that much aggression to the point some are hiding...
i always had aggression when i had my 20 SDs,but they were shoaling together most of the time.
GL with them,if need be just get rid of it.

Hello,

I have changed the tank layout and I hope that they will settle down. The culprit does get put back in his/her place by some of the larger fish, so I suspect that it is just trying to get a more dominant place in the group. If the behaviour does not improve then reluctantly I will remote it.

Re-arranging only works w/ territorial fish, which SD aren't. The SD are just establishing a hirearcy, and no harm should be done otther then some nips. The more SD you have the less fighting you will see.

SD'S do that all the time. Thats just how they ''play'' with each other.
