are they compatible? a school of 3-4 inches SD's and and an 8" giant... will it work? oppinions please.

They should be ok....now if you had a 24" giant gourami and a 3-4" silver dollars...there may be a problem 
I had a similar mix, i grew a EEGG upto 6" in a 180 with a group of 7 spotted dollars all most 4-5" fine.
my old pink giant gourami didn't let me put anything in the tank with it. it killed everything. I loved the look of redhooks with him, but it didnt work.
he was 20" though and only in a 90 by himself..possibly in a bigger tank he may not have been so territorial..
