my two female silver dollars are fighting again and they are chaseing my male all over the place they allways bite as they chase each other around wat causes them to do this is it becuase there are just three silverdollars?
There is usually a dominate fish. A larger group of 5 to 7 may spread the aggression out so that it is not quite as noticeable. I have 4 Red Hooks and 1 regular SD. At times I notice the largest Red Hook will be very dominant and chase the others around. Most of the times they do just fine and school without a problem. Besides I have a Midas that keeps them all in check.
I have 1 mylossoma sd and 2 black banned. They are all 6 inches and in a 65 gallon. They seem to take turns as to who is in charge. If you are not seing any torn fins or body wounds I would just leave them be. However if it seems to be brutal either get a few more or seperate them.
All SD's are very bullyish in schools, I have currently 6 Regular silver dollars together and the largest one chases them all around and they will occasionally kick out the smallest one from the school so the biting and chasing will never stop it's just there behavior.
