ok. So I have a 55 gal that I'm thinking of turning into a biotope. Wanted to see what you guys think of this setup and if you could tell me how many of each fish I should get.

FISH
Zebra Danios
Clown Loaches
Tiger Barbs
Glass Catfish
Red-Tailed Sharks
Honey Dwarf Gouramis
Maybe some Paradise Fish
Maybe some Bettas

PLANTS
Giant Hygrophila
Bamboo Plants (Blyxa japonica)
Hygrophila Polysperma
Hygrophila Difformis
Hygrophila Salicifolia

The substrate will be red flourite and the background will be blacked out. Should I also put some kind of driftwood in there? If so, how big.

I know it's no monster tank, but I think it'll be sweet once it's finished. Plus my living room is going to be done in Asian.
So, anyone got any other inputs on this?

Does anyone know of a pleco that would go good with this theme?

I just read that I can add a dwarf puffer in this biotope so I think I'll get one of those, maybe two.

Are all plecos native to just S. America? I thought there were some from Asia but I guess I'm wrong. Plus I think I'm going to do rocks and pebbles instead of the driftwood.

Iv had a puffer before, it just wreaked havoc in my tank, it almost killed a few of my fish, and it was realy aggressive towards other fish.

just a thought

i suggest get somthing like 2, 110g filter or somthing high or filteration. Because i have about around 30 fishes in my 10g and the are a small normal size. I use a 50gallon filter.

the one that is going to put out the most amonia spikes in your tank water is them clown loaches, i suggest only get 4-5 at the most for your 55gallon tank. they grow up to be about around 12-13inches.

I have two Emp 400's for the 55gal, so filtraion should be pretty good. They'll also help with the current.

I was looking at that. If I knew my 55 would fit I'd get it, but it's only 37" wide. I'd have to try to find a new tank. It's an awesome setup though. Did you see the 150 that just sold w/ stand for $175 in Longwood? I was going to buy it, but figured I'd rather get a pool table.

So... Anyone have anything to say????
