hey guys i need some help i just purchased a sea clear system 2 fish tank and it has a built in filter in the back i bought it used so i dont really now how to set it up it on lyhas bio balls any one got any pics or tell me how to set it up and what are u guys using inside like ceramic ring or scrubbies help asap pleas pics would be great of ur set up

imo bioballs suck! ive never read nitrates really, maybe the minimum amounts in all my tanks like easily under 10ppm mostly 5ppm and since having bioballs I have noticable nitrates, between 20-30ppm, the only difference is the bioballs which leads me to believe its them...may not be but my opinion...get rid of them imo

Bioballs have zero impact on nitrates what so ever. There are medias with better surface area like scrubbies but alll completes the nitrogen cycle, converting ammonia into nitrite then into nitrate. None of them have any impact on your nitrate levels other than WC's.

OP - Perhaps if you posted pics of what your specific set up looks like we can offer better advice on how to properly set it up. ;) Most of us are happy to help with filtration advice.
