Sea Salt collected

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is now $75 a bucket for instant ocean, here.
I may have to dump the salt tanks because of rising cost.
Yes I gave up on keeping saltwater fish years ago because of price of fish. I remember when you could buy a seahorse for around $20.00. Seahorse will cost you $60.00 or more.

I bought our yellow tang for £20 around 8-10 years ago. He is still alive and now would cost me £300 to replace. Thankfully salt has not increased the same amount but it’s certainly going up.

.....it's in the lounge, doesn't have to be fish related and it is rather interesting.

Last time i went to buy aquarium salt i got into one of those awkward "did you scan it twice?" Convos at the register. It seems like a 5gal is fully twice the price that it was just a couple years ago.

These days i am always trimming and tailoring my fishkeeping operation for cost efficiency and practicality. Price hikes like this are pushing me farther and farther away from ever developing my pipe dream saltwater setups. Imo the very most interesting fish are big FOWLR types like triggers, wrasse, and moray. Woe is me.

But on the other hand if i could get ahold of one of those salt harvesting rigs i stand to make a fortune selling delaware bay salt!

These 6 guys are 7”-8” tall & overdue for upgrade to 100+ gal tank. Now they are in a 55g with 40g breeder sump
My salt bill will nearly double.
