I have a really old huge sea shell that was pulled out of the water during the 30's and is still crusted with coraline algae i know it's okay to put dead corals into aquariums but is it okay to put a shell or will it cause PH probs?

If you are putting it in a SW tank, shouldn't be a problem at all.

seeing as this is the SW section and you've a few SW Q's before i think he know's where he's posting and that its a SW tank...

it'll raise the pH but that's good in a SW tank

Play nice! ;)

Yes it will raise the PH, and yes that is good - as long as you do not put it in a tank which already has a healthy PH of 8.0-8.4, then you run the risk of the PH going too high depending on the inhabitants needs and tolerability...Is that a word or did I just invent another one??

i was saying i know he's not poting this in the wrong section so i know he knows what he's doing.. if that makes any sense :D
