Hi everyone

Finaly got some sea sponges, ordered it under the name of Hymeniacidon Sponges, and converted them to aquarium. Next day I saw that some of them start to get a white slimy coating on them and some of them on the tips of the sponges.

Do anyone know what it is, my wife read up on it on the internet and all she could find is the lightning is maybe to strong, so if any one can please tel me what it can be or how to get rid of the slime coating. Hope not they are dead.

Any help on this subject would help me allot.

Thanks

Hymeniacidon produce slime as a defence against detritus resting on them or when attacked by another invert or something.

These sponges can actually withstand "intense" lighting, so, that is not an issue here.

I would simply monitor the sponge...If the sponge deteriorates, visually, i would them remove..
