Today as I was doing a water change in my African mbuna tank, I was preparing my new water to go into the tank and open a bottle half full bottle of prime and noticed that it had a fishy smell to it, almost like a dead fish smell!! I poured it out.. Can anyone explain this?

I wish you had written this before throwing it out. That's how Prime smells. I think the odor is more consistent if you shake it before using it, but it's always there. Buy a new bottle shake it up and give it a sniff. I go through gallons and they all smell the same. I'm glad it wasn't a full bottle you threw out.
