Seachem Purigen - Refresh? What do you think?

Followed google,

states 1:1 bleach for 24 hours, then freshwater treated with prime (or other) for 24 hours...

i found this in the bottom of one of my hob’s... maybe been there 6 months...

still looks pretty dark?

does it appear refreshed?

has chemical odor to it, did not smell it when it was new...

what do you guys/gals do?

1:1....so one cup water to one cup bleach water will work.

Why not just follow the instructions on Seachem's site for regenerating Purigen? Here is their instructions:
'
Regeneration

Soak in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metallic container in a well ventilated area and away from children. Use regular 8.25% hypochlorite household bleach (non-scented, no dyes, do not use a splash-less bleach). Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 4 tablespoons of Prime®, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well. For freshwater use, soak for 4 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of buffer per cup of water (Discus Buffer®, Neutral Regulator®). Original color and full activity should now be restored and Purigen® is ready for reuse. Caution: some slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen® and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of bleach/chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a chlorine test kit.

From my understanding, the buffer step can be skipped unless you happen to be running tanks with special needs such as R/O or similar.

I had the same problem...thinking I may have used splash-less bleach

Seachem has some conflicting information on of the buffer is needed. I've done one regen process without it and everything seemed fine.

Also Safe can be used instead of prime. I change large amounts of water plus the regen process takes a bit so, safe can be much more economical.

Yeah, I have read instance where whole tanks have been wiped because the buffer was not the needed and the PH swinged HARD.

I would put the new purigen in a mug with water and test the ph after a few days and see if it is close with the tank. I need to do this as well but my mum has no bleach...

does anyone know if Chemi pure blue puts purigen in their mystery bag? it appears maybe?
