Yeah. Its good stuff, but nothing will replace good established biofiltration and water changes.

Not quite the same... Purigen you cannot use stresscoat or many other common water conditioners, particularly those that have fish slime coat. If you do, and you go to regenerate the purigen with bleach as recommended you will end up with a chloramine building center.

Purigen is a very good media. I've used it off and on for years. The only downside to using it is the initial cost, it's rather pricey.
