Hello, I have Malawi cichlids in a 150 and I just got a phosban reactor. I wanted to know if I could use seachems seagel in the reactor. I was going to just put in carbon but then I saw the seagel. Thanks.

I went to use a different carbon (cant remember the name) in my 2lf reactors. This carbon floated and was useless in the reactor since its a reverse flow. The 2lf carbon sank and acted right in the reactor. Other than that I think just about anything can work in them. But that's just my opinion.

The seagel is nice. I have no experience putting it in a reactor. Remember it takes a very fine mesh to hold the phos guard beads they use. It works fine in a fine mesh "lifesaver" bag in my ac110.

Oh, I didn't know it needed to be in a bag. Can I lay it in my sump? I guess I will go with the carbon matrix in the reactor.
I dont think it needs to be in a bag if you got a good prefilter and filter outlet on it. I think they come with some mesh stuff so your media does not enter the water column. I was just making sure it was fine enough so your phosguard didnt penetrate the reactor.

It looks like it is a good size. seachem says you should place it in a bag in a high water flow area. I guess this stuff was made for canister filters. (on my wish list)

canisters or maybe an aqua clear or other interchangeable HOB would work. :) I think you can get media baskets for the penguin 200 and maybe put a bag in there...

I might use it on a aqua clear 110. Thanks for the info.
Thats where I got mine now. Right on.
