I'm going to be looking at a 50gal Seaclear System II from CL tomorrow, the guy wants $45. It's the tank only, without any of the filtration system, Has anybody had experience of these, the manuf website doesn't give a lot of info and only lists the skimmer and pump as available spare parts so I was wondering if I could put anything else in the 'overflow compartment' on the back for filtration/circulation?

The System II has a built in wet dry filter in the back which is made up of some pre-cut piece of light diffuser with some filter cloth on it, a drip tray and some bio-balls then you would have the return pump in the last chamber. Quite a few people would hook up canister filters to supplement the mechanical filtration in these tanks.

Well, I went and picked up the Seaclear, looks like someone tried to polish out some small scratches but gave up before they finished, so I've got some work to get it cleaned up, but for $45 it looks like it'll be a good buy.
On the subject of polishing out scratches in acrylic, has anyone tried using scouring cream (the sort you use to clean ceramic stove tops), I just happened to be cleaning my stove tonight and thought this stuff might do a good job on acrylic?
