I am thinking of picking up a used 125/150. I was offered one that was pretty old. In a running tank how long is the silicone normally good for before needing to be resealed? Thanks

Hello; No accurate idea on a maximum time for a silicone sealed tank. I have a couple that are at least ten years old and most likely much older without leaking.

I would go for it. I had a tank sitting outside for 2 years and just recently made room for it and it has not leaked so far.

I have a small tank my grandad made himself the year I was born, it's a little scratched and the silicone looks like some kind of ****ty brown putty and not silicone as we know it.

Built in 1978

I think if the tank has been used all this time it MIGHT be okay... but if its been left in storage with no water in a dry climate, i would probably do a dry run and fill it with water and leave it for a week or two just to make sure there are no leaks...
