Sealing metal, best to use?

I am after a few suggestion on what to use to seal mild steel from the main tank water, but it needs to be useable with silicone.

Any help with suggestions please.

2 part epoxy similiar to whats used to make wood/fiberglass tanks. I use "Devoe" brand chemical resistant one part epoxy/oil based paints because its affordable, but its worth spending $60-$90 on a gallon of 2 part epoxy paint to ensure rusting isnt an issue. The silicone will also adhere to the epoxy paint.

Thanks for that, i wills e eif i can get it over here in the UK, i have had aquick look but nothing, although i have seen the 2part water based epoxy paint is used also in the marine industry, non toxic and all. i will email them and double check what they say.
