So my 125G sprung a leak as I was moving it into my house, obviously this concerns me, As we were moving it we stood it up tall to get it onto the dolly and I think that made part of the seal break. (it was holding water before). It was dripping a bit as we were moving it, so obviously I can't have the tank leaking. I resealed the whole size of the tank that had a leak just to be safe, not just the part I thought was leaking, now I was wondering if it is an OK idea to do this.....

After I resealed and the silicone dries up I am going to put more silicone over the already sealed part, I am just going to use an excessive amount that 100% totally covers the already dried seal. Is this a good idea? I want to really go for overkill just to make sure, I don't want this tank leaking and causing big (and expensive) problems.

I know your supposed to cut off the sealant when you reseal and I did that but my question is purtaining when I overkill and put sealant all over it, that wont actually be a negative will it?

Please Help

I don't think fresh silicone adheres to old silicone that well....i may be mistaken though...

Fresh silicone will not adhere to old silicone; Therefore, every seem will have to be redone, or you run the risk of having the silicone leak at the point where the old silicone joins the new....

There is no point putting new silicone over old silicone, as it most likely peel back and become very unattractive.

I don't think it is a good idea to put fresh silicone over old, because like Piscine said, the fresh silicone probably and most likely will not adhere to the old (even though thats what I did with my 55g recently, which wasn't very smart of me and I'll probably end up having to take all the sealant off and start over but hopefully not...)

& IMO it is better to use too much rather than too little. & since the silicone is 100% non-toxic & harmless to your fish, you'll have no negatives to worry about

Also, make sure to smooth out the areas where you apply it with your finger; otherwise you'll leave a gap where water can seep through.
