Hello,I was at my local PetSmart a few days ago and the fish dept manager mentioned thy would be getting oddball "seasonal fish" within the next few rotations. Any PS employees here by chance know what type of fish these will be? I love oddball fish, regular is boring.:)

I work at a pet store, not that kind, but a pet store never the less lol. By oddball, to my best assumption cuz a lot of pet stores dont carry cool fish, they mean like puffers, jack dempsey, electric blue cichlids, frontosa, peacock bass (its a stretch of the imagination but i have seen very few in stores) etc. It could also mean fish that they can only order during a certain season. I know with my store, we can only get certain fish during certain times of the year. Whenever the word oddball comes up, think more exotic/rare then what places usually carry.

jack dempseys are sold at every single petsmart, petco, pet supermarket...but anyway, perhaps the employee was suggesting something like they did a few months back with pike cichlids and geophagus

yeah jack are very common at every petsmart around me to and are like $2.50 and they all have electric blues $25, Mine actually still has geo's too. Do you know if every petsmart is doing this, because mine just added peacock eels like 2 months ago. I am actually really curious as to what they will bring because sadly they are the only LFS I have, and I must say although they dont know much about fish they tanks are always nice and my fish I got are healthy.

I actually bought one of the peacock eels from my local petsmart While the info i've read on forums says they usually hide in caves or under the gravel most of the time, mine is constantly n the move even though i provided him a cave and dense plant cover in one corner to hid in if he wants. He especially loves riding the air bubbles from the under gravel airstone to the top and the getting shot across the tank by the filter water discharge, he spends hours doing this sometimes.Kind of like a fishy waterslide i guess. :nilly:

I wish mine did, I think my peacock eel and raphael catfish battle to see who can stay hidden the longest. But occasionally I will see my Eel swimming around and mine likes bubbles too. But I've had mine for over 2 months and I've seen him maybe 6 times, I've only seen my Raphael twice since adding him, and actually last night was the 2nd time. Yet my BGK which is supposed to be a one that like to hide comes out and will stay out as long as I sit in front of my tank.
