I am curious to know what everyone thinks of the local fish stores in the Seattle Tacoma area's. Which stores carry the best selection of exotic Pleco's and hard to get Central and South American cichlids. Do any of them do special orders for people or is there someone private in the area who can get hard to find species at reasonable prices? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

My favorite in the area is A Place for Pets in Burien. Kevin is a great guy and they have a nice assortment of SA/CA cichlids in stock. As to Plecos Ive seen a few rare ones in the shops but you will do better checking craigslist, there have been some private sellers in the area with some awesome fish for sale.

Pet Pourri in Everett, hands down best rare fish store(legit store-no shadiness IMO) A close second (IMO) is Burien's 'A Place for Pets'.

Some of the International District stores in downtown have some cool stuff-but the stores seem more 'exotic' that their selection...

+1 for Pet Pourri in Everett, last time I was in there they had sturgeon and mekong catfish just to name a few. I don't know if they will do custom orders.

Another shop that can help you get some hard to find fish is Big Fish Aquatics in Marysville. It's a tiny hole in the wall shop but the owner orders all his own fish internationally and can get just about anything.

Bridges pets in Snohomish has a HUGE fish area and carries lots of different Pleco's. I havn't paid to much attention to the SA cichlids.

Awesome! Unfortunately I live inSpokane and the fish selection here sucks... I have a good looking five star jewel male who I would like to pair up with some females maybe and am looking for an exotic large growing pleco with good color to go in my 125 with some electric blue jacks... something like a vampire or other pseudacanthicus... I might be going over there soon to visit family and would love to bring back something new to the eastside... thanks for the input! Keep it coming!

As for the central and south americans I would like to find some good colored breihdori or some red festae or even some lyonsi or rare pikes...

Come down south a few miles, and check out Pets are People too. As for spokane, hands down the best is Aquarium Solutions. The owner is a very well known pleco breeder, and has spoken at some big fish conventions. She usually has at least a few good plecos in.
