in my shark tank
I have a Sebae Anemone that has been in the tank for the past month and it is doing great and eatch just fine but has yet to attach himself to any place in the tank. Here is a bit about the tank setup.

180 acrylic with overflow
60 gallon sump with chalurpa and ASM G3 skimmer
1300 gallons going throught the sump per hour
2x 500 gallon powerheads
3x 175 watt MH
2x PC 96 watt 50/50

The MH are on for 6 hours per day and the PC are on for a total of 10 hours.

I constantly check the quality and do a water change every week of about 20 gallons per week.

Everything else in the tank is doing fine.

3 yellow tangs
1 blue tang
1 sailfin tang
1 diamond goby
1 lawnmower blenny
2 fire fish
3 clown (one came with the anenome)
lots of crabs and snails.

My question is why will he not attach to anything? He floats around all day in the tank.

That is not a good sign. If you touch it is it sticky? How light is it getting, where it usually stays (Floats). Sebae anemones usually like to attach in the sand. Is there too much flow which is keeping it from being able to grab on and attach. If so, shut your powerheads off for a day, until it can grab hold of something. How is it's color, is it bleached? Compare it to photos of healthy anemones on the internet.
Good luck. I had one that seemed to do well for a few months and then just withered away to nothing.

it was bleached when i first got it but now has turned tan and has gotten a bit bigger. It stays towards the bottom of the tank most of the time and moves through out the rocks. its always fully open and i feed it small food every other day and it takes it and eats. when i first got it it was real slimmy but now is a bit more sticky. I have tried to shut off the power heads for a while ( a few days) but it doesent do any better. Is it ok taht it doesent attach itself. Can it live and just float around?

It really should be attached. It should also be very sticky. Maybe you should give it bigger pieces of food every two or 3 days. What are you giving it? There is a reason its not attached, either its still not doing well, or its unhappy in the tank, and waiting for the current to take it to a better place, which of course isnt going to happen. Does it get enough PAR at the bottom of the tank?

Sounds like you may have too much flow from your powerheads. Try to dial that down for a while and see what happens.
Anenomes are tough to keep. Like Roastbeef said, I had one for a while until it withered away. It came on a piece of live rock I bought. I thought it might make it, but nope.

i feed it with a turkey baster that is what the guy at the store where i got it said to do and i am giveing it mysis shrimp frozen. What should i be fedding it? I have shrimp and scalops for my sharks. will not haveing the powerheads on in the tank affect any of the other corals? tonight it is sitting in a crevis next to a large leather and they are touching. should i try ot move it or just let it do its thing?

Probably just let it do its thing. How big is it? You might be able to feed it some pieces of shrimp/scallop.
I believe you said you had 2 500gph powerheads? That seems to be an awful lot of flow to me. Maybe turn off one and see what happens?
Also, keep an eye on both the coral and sebae. There's bound to be some chemical warfare going on! Both animals will sting each other.

try and sit the anemone in a clearist area in you tank where it gets direct light. try and lean something that doesnt weigh much, i have used plastic feeding tongs to hold my anems in place while they attach, it must be something lite and plastic so it doesnt irritate him. he wont eat until he is attached, normally healthy nems will attach very quickly and then move around tank to find light. yours sounds in bad health. if he attaches lots of flow, fish/food and mh lighting
