well last week the weather started to get nice and during the winter me and my father were discussing putting a second pond in, this one to be dug and maintained by me, i got all summer to dig it out and do my design all he has to deal with is the filtering and setting up my waterfall or stream, mind you im not sure if i have the room to do that, i have started digging i will get pictures tomorrow. i might have to settle with just a fountain or something like that. my pond is only going to house koi (already have in my indoor pond) in it where my fathers has roughly 30 koi and 30 gold fish. so the pond is most likely going to be a rectangle, im not into all the fancy designs, but i plan on making it a natural pond. if i dont hit water by 10 feet deep in the deepest end im quiting at that, its going to have 3 levels, the deepest part at 10' second level at about 5' and a shallow level of 2.5' this way cleaning becomes a bit easier.

when i get pictures ill also take some of my fathers pond thats already done from a year or 2 ago, so you can see how small the backyard has become in the last few years. and once i figure out how to attach pictues since i cant figure it out.

Are you HAND digging it, with shovels? If so, good luck getting to 10' deep. I had to quit at 4', as the clay was so hard packed I needed a pickaxe to get any deeper...

ya im hand digging the pond and the clay isnt that hard packed around here i already have a small whole about 4.5 feet deep, gotta move an old flower garden out of the way before i can keep working

i would but it gives me something to do, since im not working and not in school, its just to keep me busy lol

Dang dude, you're lucky its not hard packed like here.

I guess if you got nothing else to do, then you might as well, right?

well its better then my uncles where you go down a foot and its all rock so you cant even put a pond luckily for him there area is all natural streams and running water its really nice.

if you look in the last picture you can see a little bit of brick thats the area im doing my pond. this is my fathers pond last year the elephant is a fountain, the waterfall has 4 levels to it, the pond is 2 feet deep and has a dip down to 4 feet where the lotus is, as you can see my backyard looks like a nature reserve lol ill get a picture of my rough draft and the area im digging in soon, gotta move a little bit more work to clean up the area before i can
