Yeah $12.50 for a 7 inch shortnose that's really 7 inches is pretty hot. I'm waiting for him to get more longnose in they're going for $7.50. So Nice!!
Huh... I'll have to pass this by my cohort Sol for a second opinion and diagnosis but the fish pictured there is not a Platostomus but rather Platyrhincus.

looks like TFD has reverted back to their earlier "expertise" in gar ID...they definitely sent you a Florida gar, not a shortnose gar. i am not arguing that they don't have good prices on gars, they just suck at ID historically (got better for a while, but i would try to work out some sort of deal if i were you for an actual shortnose).--

No wonder they said it was their last one. They probably didn't realize they were out until after you paid and just gave you a Florida instead.
It could be a straight mis-ID, but from the Shorties I have gotten from there (one dead now, one alive, both confirmed as platostomus) I know they definitely had a Shortnose stock for a while.
