i recently picked up a $50 125 gallon tank, stand, and canopy and im in the process of refurbishing it so heres the deal......

ever scince i was a little boy i always said if i had a tank this big it would be saltwater, but ive also always wanted an arowana and the other assorted freshwater monsters. i also have a lovable ornate bichir in my 30 gallon that i want to give the best home possible, and this tank was purchased for him.

so mainly i dont know which dream to fufill at this point, fresh monsters or salty denziens....

if i wasnt 16 and had a job i would just get another tank but for now this one has to last me a few years.......... till after colledge then BAM! 600 gallon fresh and 1000 gallon salt but till then....... which would you do:

a fresh tank wth a ornate, aro(growout) and pickerel, (and my 30 gallon's other inhabitants)

OR

a FOWLR salt with a grouper, boxfish, and a moray

If you have no job then go with the freshwater. Salt setup and maintainance will cost a lot more than a freshwater setup and maintainance.

I would do salt, just because the arowana will need a bigger home before you could get him one i guess..

i've always wanted a panther grouper :) and a saltwater tank
but like u im 16 and no job lmao

All I have to say is for the cost of setting up salt, even FOWLR you could set up a couple more 125s with fresh....

price out the salt water & you will likely agree that at 16 there is plenty of time to fulfill both dreams when you get that job...

but unlike u milk i dont have a 1500 gallon pond lol:ROFL: ,

neways i know da aro would get too big but i have plans for one once it gets that big.
so one vote for alt from milk and one for fresh for isx, looks like a tie

FW, due to the expense (for now)

When I was 16 I had job, so just get one and you will have more options.

But to give you an answer I would go fresh.

Go with the fresh since your life might change pretty rapidly it would be a more stable environment for the fish. Salt takes too much more maintenance than fresh and will cost you more $. JMO but there's time. Wait, pal. Wait...

so far looks like fresh is it, makes more sense, less work, fish that r just as cool, and ive been doin it for 10 years, ya ill prob go with fresh still, esp. scince my last forray into salt was a dissaster.....................
