When I go for the big dogs I'll bring a seperate rod to catch live bait (check to see if that's legal where you fish). Bluegill work well, I try them live and as cut bait.

bluegill, hot dogs, chicken liver, berkley powerbait chunks..theres a lot more but yea make sure you have at least 50 lb. line on your pole just in case the big ones strike..and youll know..

my secret............ take some raw market shrimp, let it sit in the sun for a few hours... stuff a nylon sock with some and toss it around your fishing area. Give it an hour to attract big cats and use one as bait. BAM!!!
