I haven't tried in yrs. but I've all together at 4 different black aros 2-4in. guys trying to raise them up and I lost ALL 4 (at different times) for what seemed to be no reason water parameters were good, food, temp., etc.... What is the secret to raising Black Aros

Successfully raised a few myself. First off, no tank mates until 10-11" or at least 6" and then only a very select few. Next stable proper water params, I would not suggest less then 40 gallons. With low volumes of water you are running risk of spikes. Params as follow, water temp of 84 degrees, pH of 6.5 to 7.0, ammonia/nitrites at zero and nitrates to be kept under 10ppm.

Proper varied diet, multiple smaller feedings(4-5 times daily) are better then one or two larger daily feedings. Also important not to overfeed or offer food which is too large(I lost a baby black due to this).

If you have more than 1 I have found floating driftwood helpfull. it eliminates most of the line of sight attacks.
