I've always kept my Rays on a substrate of very small (and smooth) pea gravel, but I don't like the look when all the gravel ends up blown to the back/middle of the floor of the tank, exposing the glass base.
I'm now planning a larger tank and wonder if anyone has tried siliconing a thin layer of gravel to the base ? The plan would be to smear a 2-3mm layer of aquarium silicon over the front 12" of the tank and then sprinkle a generous amount of dry gravel onto the top and wait for the sealant to cure before adding the two inches of gravel I normally keep them on.
Anyone think of any drawbacks to doing this ?
Thanks
