Today I was given a special back stage pass to see how our custom koi fish shipping boxes are made. I would never have imagined how much work goes into (what I thought) was a basic box. I'm a huge fan of the program "How It's Made" and after seeing fish shipping boxes being built up close I now have a new appreciation for how we use them. It is great to see so many people passionate about what they do. I'll like to share with you my story on why a box, is NOT just a box.

Here you can see an array of stock paper that is ordered one day before a run. This box company pushes out some serious numbers!

A shot of a die cut plate being built. It is first made from wood and pin blades are set to cut out boxes of spec sizes.

Once the plates are marked, blades are set in the correct locations and mounted. This becomes much like a cookie cutter. Cutting the paper into the correct size.

This photo shows a complete stamp being made inorder to print on a box.

The company that runs our shipping boxes for Koi Enterprise also does work for other company's such as " Jelly Belly", "SacBrew", BlueDimond", "Flowmater" just to name a few.

Thanks weedamese. I know i'm a die hard fish fan and was wondering about posting how a box is made would be...lol. We have all been there in needing a box or come home with one full of fish. I have a new respect for those brown/white fish boxes. I'm glad you enjoyed this small story.

Np bro,
I really enjoy the show "How It's Made" too. Its really cool to know how everything is created from the basic. Sometimes I watch that show and it just blows my mind.. like how a little thing could take so much effort/work to create. Its amazing :)
