My buddy who lives down the hall from me in my dorms has a Blue Zebra. When he first got the fish it was aggressive and would eat what was put in the tank. Now if a feeder fish does in the tank it will tank him sometimes up to like 3 or 4 days to eat it. Anytime some one is near the tank he hides up in the corner. He also does not eat flakes or other food all the time.

If this was one fish I could understand but it has been a constant trend. He had a JD that did the same exact thing which we brought back to the fish store and got this one. Figured maybe it was the fish.

Does anyone have a clue why all of his fish seem to be so shy I guess you can say. Can it be something in the tank or the way it is set up?

My GT that we got from the same lfs floats out in the open and kind of a show off when people are looking

Water parameters? Maybe where-ever the tank is there is too much traffic. Ive herd of people moving shy fish into laundrys and secluded areas; they end up being more assertive with time.

No idea but im just throwing ideas out there.

Well he is in the closet of the kids room. Really there is two people in the room and maybe sometimes I am in there. Not to much traffic but I will do some research on it.

I have to correct my self I just found out the guy at the pet store was wrong he is a Demasoni Cichlid not a blue zebra

Just read this about the demasoni's.

'Pseudotropheus demasoni like all Malwian fish, comes from hard, alkaline water ranging in pH from 7.6-8.6. It is found among rocks.'

Does he have his ph right with appropriate decorations?
Either way this is the wrong section to be asking, id prefer tell you this kindly instead of getting flamed by someone else, plus im an experienced 'wrong-section' thread creator too!

Sorry man. Did not realize it was the wrong section. Thought he was a american cichlid and could post it here. Is there anyway I can move it

what are the corners of your fish tank like? Some fish tanks are built poorly and magnify from the fish's side of things. so things coming close to the tank get really big, had a tank that was like that and fish where very scittish and hide when people came into the room. changed tanks and they where fine.
