My male Isletas is in his breeding dress and looking pretty red. Almost makes up for the nuchal shrinkage. lol

That's a red face!
Yeah, I was surprised by it. This is the reddest I've ever seen him. He's usually very pale in comparison or had more of an orangy pink hue going when he gets more excited but this was an awesome surprise. I think he's serious about this spawn then lol.

great looking fish - weird that his hump would shrink during breeding
It seems normal to me. The humps on my cits and Isletas always shrink when they're in spawning mode. I wish they'd stay and I would have thought it would work that way, if it's any sign of virility to an interested female, but it seems to me once they got the babe in the bag it just shrivels away to hardly nothin until the male decides he's over the whole baby thing and goes back to being manly and impressive.

Nice, now thats a RED isletas
Thanks. Does the name right I think. I remember looking through a thread by XR (I think) a while back, comparing the redness of Isletas and barred cits. While I do believe some cits can have a much redder face than others, and some Isletas can be duller than others there just had to be a good reason to note them as "Red Isletas". Now I know. lol

He's a real beauty, I love his round snout.

Red isletas are currently my favorite form of barred Amphilophus.
Thanks MAC! I thought you got one not too long ago as well. How about some updates?
Yeah, this guy has won me over with his looks and attitude since I put my barred cit in the pond and don't get to see him like I used to.
I've got big hopes for my Hogas too. :D
