What's the earliest you've seen red in rbp babies? I have dime size babies just getting black spots n lil red too.I've never seen or heard of rbp getting red so early.I think I know the reason. But has anyone had rbp babies with red?

Sounds like they are right on target to have a little red in them. mine were red only a couple of days after they started seeing spots. Check out my LIVE webcam on my baby RBP they are about 4 months old. They have A LOT more red that i thought they would at that size

4 months old those are bigger. Mine are month n half at most n dime size.just how big are your 4 month olds?2"?my males don't have the best red coloration but my female are very red although their all black now. I know parents color affects offsprings colors as well as food.will plankton give better reds like shellfish n shrimp?

My 4 month old piranhas are super red :D they were red when i got them at around 2ish months.

Thanks everyone for their replies.pretty hard to get responses on here!I will say piranha forum watchers n keepers are the best here at least I get a couple replies here unlike breeding n other forums.honestly I figured members would be more helpful or even at least give their thoughts n ideas. But I guess I don't have a high enough thread count to get very many responses. I thought mfk was about helping n exchanging ideas n thoughts n experiences.I guess to many members are to busy sayn how good this site is rather than making it as good as everyone thinks it is. Don't get me wrong I like the site tons of info n ideas n I've met a few very nice fellow fish keepers but overall I'm pretty disappointed that members are not as friendly as I thought fellow keepers should or would be.guess I should just stay on the piranha forums where least the keepers are friendlier.

It's not that were nice or mean but as you will come to find out the longer your here the more you see the same questions pop up:
Whats wrong with my fish?
Can some id?
What to feed them?
Whats the max tank size?
How to breed/ what do I do with the fry?

and the list goes on and on and on......

After a while you decide to either get very short with your replies and possible start a fight over nothing or just read and continue with your day...

I saw i few of your threads, to make a generalization like people only answer back in the piranha forum is an ignorant remark and is frankly insulting to have someone who has been here such a very short time saying people should stop saying how good MFK is and start actualy making it good. Theres a reason people rave about how helpful this forum is, because it is people don't just make up this stuff . I suggest spending more time on here before making such a generalization.

i don't answer back on threads that already have the information on the forum somewhere chances are most other MFKers are this way as well.

you need to spend some time posting threads in the planted section..... it takes like a week before you get a reply back lol ;)

Greez said it best

how do you know which ones are male and female?

<--- see I did it. I participated. MFK just got exponentially better. Yay me.

I'm sure there's exceptions but every female rbp that I've had are thicker n the bottom of their bellies are a tad more rounded.
