Hey guys I've been gone for a few hours and just gone home. When I left my fish were all fine swimming and when I got home they were dodging across the tank slamming into the glass. My guess it that my heater messed up and shocked the water or something. The heater was laying in the water and the suction cups look melted. As soon as I took the heater out they were acting normal. Please help I have no clue why this happened, it's a new heater had it maybe a month or so.

Hey those do go out and can overheat I once bought 3 defective in a row from Walmart and kept returning finally just bought somewhere else...what are the odds of that... Anyway make sure you get one that is fully submersible

It sounds like u answered your own question. I think what you've discovered is that quality equipment is worth the cost. If you've removed the heater that seemed to be causing the problem you should be fine. Keep a close eye on you fish for a day or so. A water change won't hurt anything either.

Sounds like the thermostat in your heater must have gone haywire and overheated?

Maybe time to try another brand?
