Where The Wild Things Are
Alright so im going to orange county tomorrow and going to buy some baby aros. I know to pick ones with flat eyes and no damages or deformities. But what about PLJ how do i select for that? I was thinking pick ones with even jaws or with even a slightly shorter jaw? oh year are differents in heads as well? PLEASE REPLY I just want to have a good strt with these guys. Growout in 100 gal then 150 few months then BIG undicided but got the funds!

Thank you for your time

Giang

Buy what appeals to you. Be sure that the aro is swiming openly and not just sitting in a corner or something. Clearly if there is a sign of disease then you should think twice unless there is a substantial discount (personally i would not do it)

You can ask LFS to feed the aro so that you can see the agro feeder. If you can get a pellet trained one then even better

Other than that there is no way to choose the juvi aros imo

Just picked up a few babies from 405 they look great and eating already! guess what they were only 7 bucks a pop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7 bucks? that's a steal.... over here a baby silver cost around 20 bucks (with serious bargaining and must be a puny juvenile no more than 4" never seen anything smaller than 4" in any case)

may be wholesale price is that but not retail for sure - and fish are CHEAP over here ^^

Congrats ^^ pix now pls (i love new pix)

wow, that's a DEAL.. how big are they?

Inifinte aquatics has some that are around 6" for $15.. i got two. and i'm negotiating for a couple larger ones from someone else. hehehe

when i got my first one (Pinky) i watched all the fish in the tank for a long time, i got the one with good straight undamaged barbels, no fin damage and the most color of all of the fish in the tank. i think that's about all you can do.. and hope for the best.
