I'm trying to add some carpet plants to my fish tank, any suggestions?
Looking for something short, ~1 to 2" tall, easy to grow with low to moderate light and without the need of CO2 charging.
something cheap and can root in small to mid size gravel.

If you can also point out where to buy them that would be great.

many thanks in advance.

Marsilea quadrifolia is a nice little plant. Try online to purchase it.

Also Glossostigma elatinoides works really well. I've seen it at a LFS before but once again online is probably your best bet.

Thanks, I think I already have Glossostigma elatinoides or something similar but it's not rooting, maybe because I don't have much light and not using CO2.
Marsilea quadrifolia looks interesting, will research a bit more.
I also came across dwarf hairgrass and micro sword, will those be good options as well? how fast will they spread? (inluding Marsilea quadrifolia)
any reliable online vendor that you can recommend?

Howdy,

For carpet-forming plants, you generally need high wattage or low water levels. Echinodorus tenellus is less demanding than Glossostigma and faster growing than hairgrass. I only buy at AquariumGarden.com I tried Aquaspotworld.com, and even though their selection is great, their quality is very poor, and I introduced snails and hydra from their shipment.

Thanks HarleyK, I'll check out the website and the plant you suggested.
