Heya. We have a new tank with two young sen bichirs, one grey, one albino. There is also an arowana, and most recently an algae eater. I tossed in half an algae wafer for the eater and the grey took off with it barely before it hit the bottom. Can it get sick from eating it?

You really should offer algae wafers to almost anything that will eat them. Captive fish aren't getting what they would be in the wild and can use any and all supplementation.

I'll throw a whole one in there next time, then, instead of breaking it. Kinda worried me when JamesF mentioned the pokey part. Didn't think about it when i tossed it in there :S

I gave my sen quartered pieces of HBH algae wafers. I don't know about a whole wafer. My sen was too small for that. Glad you found another food item for your bichir.

I agree. Not that it has to be wafers, but maybe some cichlids pellets, etc. My Fahaka puffer eats Dainichi pellets and is growing like crazy.

Sens (I have 3) will eat almost anything and everything.

My dark sen eats anything, the albino prefers live fish but will condescend to eat a bloodworm here and there. The arowana eats bloodworms and live fish.
