senegal bichir diet

I was thinking..

Would gutloaded (carrots,lettuce) crickets and convict fry be good feeders for a senegal bichir?

What do senegals mainly eat in nature?

Would add a pellet food and alternate with the crickets. BTW Senegal bichir love crickets, also small earth worms. . Convict fry is OK when the sen would catch them.
