My Senegal Bichir is now happily eating pellets!!!

Yay Right?


ehhh...it scares the crap out of me, I put in shrimp pellets meant for my cats and geo, but my bichir is now eating them. The shrimp pellets are big, and he has to eat them lengthwise just to get them down his throat. Last night he ate one that was big enough it made his throat puff out like a toad, he was like this for five minute before he spit it out, reajusted it, and gulped it down.

My question: is there a chance that my bichir can choke to death on these pellets?

My senegal does the same thing. BUT, when he overeats he throws up in the tank...what a damn mess is created in the tank when he does it. Just be careful not to have too many shrimp pellets drop to the bottom.

Mine do the same thing with hikari carnivore pellets (at least my larger--4"--does, the 3" just rolls pieces off)

He'll swallow a pellet whole and his neck puffs out to the point that his gills are open, then he swims away to a more secluded spot to deal with it. I haven't seen any problems with it yet, it doesn't really worry me too much.
