Hi everyone im somehwat of a new member here but not to the forum aspect, i am going to the store TODAY to get a senegal bichir also know as the folowing,

Dinasour eel
dinasour bichir
gray bichir
senegal bichir

I have a fifty gallon and i might but a cichild or two with the bichir
i have three cichilds, a oscar a OB peacock, and a Red blood parrot.

I was also wondering if they would be okay with the bichir, ive set up my tank acording to the bichir, i added a cave i have exsisting plants and ive lowerd the water level a bit for them to breath thanks everyone.

I have 2 senegals with my oscar, it works good. Unfortunately your tank is already over stocked from the cichlids alone.

unless you plan on upgrading to a 75 for the oscar alone.....id suggest not getting anymore fish. Your tank is already way overstocked like previously stated

I was told several time a 40 was good for my oscar this is forign new to me? I also was going to get another tank for my other cichilds or i can get rid of some fish?

oscar need a 75gal.

Oscars simply create to much waste and grow to large for the dimensions of a 55g. You could house 2 sens in your 55g with only the OB peacock and blood parrot though.

the sen is fine for life in your current tank, but not the cichilds you mentioned.
Bichirs are better on their own, and you'll be wanting more of them..
