Hello. I own an albino senegal bichir and I've had him for about 3 months now. Hes grown to about 6 inches and has been fine all three months. But since yesterday hes been developing these brown spots, hasnt been moving, and has been rejecting food. This is all unlike him as hes usually constantly roaming the aquarium and eating qll the food I provide for him. Hes not bloated and has a sand substrate. The water peramiters are also good, I test them everyday. Hes in with a GT, 2 fire mouths, and 2 convicts which are all healthy. I do not want my bichir to die, I love him and I'm very worried and I will do absolutely whatever it takes to save him. Please send suggestions and if you know what's wrong please let me know.

Almost looks like injuries of sorts, could perhaps be the cichlids attacking him. What are the water parameters? It would be best to post them.

Nitrate 20ppm, nitrite 0. They're not injuries. I've played close attention to the cichlids hes in with. They all leave him alone and they've been okay together for 3 months. Not once has any of them attacked him.

That’s looking like septicemia. Start some kanamycin and Epsom salt 1 tbsp per 5g. Hold feedings. Check ur water parameters ASAP.

Thank you. Going to my LFS tomorrow and getting kanamycin. I already have Epsom salt. I really hope he pulls through. And thank you for the response. You might have saved his life.

Looks to be getting beat up bythe cichlids, polys dont fight back when getting bullied.
I’d have to agree with Kurt. This is a possibility. Might be happening at night. If u can please move the fish to a qt tank or separate with a divider.

Yup looks like hes getting beat in. What cichlids are in with him ? Cichlids can be completely opposite after the lights go out. Honestly feel bad for that little sen. You have to remove him or the cichlids asap. Set up a little qt and get him healed up then decide how you want to proceed

Maybe can be healed with aquarium salt and clean water, if it dont work kno4te kno4te can advice some med. like J jaws7777 mentioned seperate them right away. If you dont have a extra tank you can always make a divider, a square sponge can do the trick or a eggcrate.
